Press release

On 8 October 2025, Palace Hotel Tokyo (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), operated by Palace Hotel Co., Ltd., achieved the “GSTC Certification”, an international standard for sustainable tourism. This marks the first GSTC hotel certification by Control Union Japan and represents a first for a Japanese hotel within Japan.
As the flagship hotel of a Japanese hospitality company with over 65 years of history, the hotel has consistently pursued initiatives to reduce environmental impact. These include providing the highest level of hospitality while reducing single-use plastics, offering products utilising food loss ingredients, and promoting the use of LED lighting. Furthermore, centred on its sustainability concept of ‘Welcoming the Future,’ which encompasses contributions to the local community and the united efforts of its staff, the hotel is advancing the practice of sustainable tourism.
We are delighted that these efforts have been validated through the attainment of the internationally recognised GSTC certification. We sincerely wish The Palace Hotel Tokyo continued success and further development.
Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism through certifications based on international standards.

About GSTC

GSTC certification is an international certification scheme that evaluates sustainable initiatives within the tourism industry. It is operated by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which establishes globally recognised standards for assessing whether the tourism sector is operating sustainably with consideration for environmental, social and cultural aspects. Certification is awarded following an assessment by a third-party organisation accredited by the Council.
