    Comment from the Certified Company

We are pleased to announce certified the BCI CoC certification for both cotton and cotton yarn. Control Union has supported us in acquiring a range of certifications—including GOTS, OCS, and GRS—and we sincerely appreciate their prompt and professional assistance throughout the BCI CoC certification process as well.

We are currently receiving inquiries from overseas companies regarding traceable BCI materials. As we continue to build a strong track record in this area, we aim to contribute further to the adoption and promotion of traceable BCI cotton among Japanese companies.

    BCI Membership and Certification

    About BCI CoC certification

Better Cotton released its Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard Version 1.0 in May 2023, introducing significant revisions to the supply chain monitoring and evaluation process. The purpose of third-party certification is to verify that supply chain organizations comply with the new standard and that Better Cotton’s Chain of Custody is reliably maintained. Obtaining BCI CoC certification enables the reference to “traceability” and “BCI blend ratio”—aspects not covered by the previous mass balance approach—and requires mandatory evaluation by a third-party verification body.

The CoC certification acquired by the company this time represents a formal third-party evaluation confirming that traceability and proper management of cotton are appropriately implemented throughout the entire process, from raw material receipt to manufacturing, distribution, and sales. This certification enables the company to objectively demonstrate the transparency and reliability of its use of “Better Cotton” in its products, proving it is a company that complies with international standards in building a sustainable supply chain.

    About BCI(Better Cotton Initiative)

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a nonprofit organization that sets standards for water efficiency, soil conservation, reduction of harmful chemicals, and fair labor practices in cotton farming, promoting sustainable cotton production globally. Currently, licensed farmers in 23 countries participate, accounting for approximately 23% of the world’s cotton production. (Source: Better Cotton Initiative 2024-25 Annual Report)
